Lisa Ann Voss
June 22nd, 1947 - August 4th, 2017
Lois Ann Voss, “Lulabelle” passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, age 70 at her Janesville group home.
Lois was born June 22, 1947, in Beloit, WI to Henry F. and Shirley Jane Weiler Voss. At the age of 6 months, Lois contracted spinal meningitis and was hospitalized for almost a month. The disease reoccurred at the age of one year. She survived temperature spikes of 102 – 110 degrees. After her mother died in 1953, Lois lived with her grandparents in Fairchild, WI until her aunt Noriene Rector “DeeDee” took over her care until 1999.
Despite the residual effects of her early medical problems, Lois lived a full life. Community Connections in Janesville was her favorite place to go during the week; attending as many trips into the community. Whenever Lois was out and about, she invariably would meet someone she knew from a previous encounter. Her big smile and “Oh Hi” always made you feel welcome. If you yawned while visiting her, she would look at her watch and tell you NO, it was not the time for a nap.
Lois had a personality the size of Texas and was able to make her wants and needs to be known.
Her constant companion was her doll, named BABY. You felt lucky if she trusted you with Baby, even for a minute.
Lois is survived by her aunt Noriene Rector, Beloit WI; brother Alvin and Bonnie Voss, WI; sister Esther Ames, her 4 children and families, FL; uncle Marvin Weiler and family, IL; cousins Judith Nichols, her 3 children and families, WI and TX; Richard and Diane Haime, their 3 children and families, MI and WA; Lois is also survived by special friends, Nancy, Amanda, McKenzie, Marketta, Steve, Linda, and Cheryl as well as Amy Debbie and Jim. She is also survived by her REM family Sharon, Laray, Keith and the many friends she made throughout her life.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Voss, brother Henry Voss; aunt and uncle Vivian and Robert Haime; uncles Richard and Leeson Voss; Victor and Martha Voss; aunt Mrs. Natalie Weiler; and grandparents Fred and Ella Voss and Alex and Mollie Weiler.
There will be services. Burial will be in Cleveland Cemetery, Fairchild WI with her family.
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly worn out, and proclaiming “WOW, what a ride!”
