Daniel “Bucky” Eugene Wickson
November 5th, 1939 - August 15th, 2017
Our dear brother and uncle, Daniel E. Wickson, of South Beloit, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. “Bucky”, as he was known all his life to friends and family, was born in Rockford, IL, on November 5, 1939, to John and Elizabeth “Nellie” (North) Wickson. He attended schools in Rockford and served in the US Army in Berlin, Germany, as a paratrooper. He spent his working years at Illinois Water Treatment. Bucky had many hobbies, including owning and flying his Cessna airplane, flying large model RC airplanes, and in recent years enjoyed constructing small models in his home workshop. Bucky was a friendly, likable, witty guy and happily greeted everyone he met. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Fanara, Kay Larsen, and brother, Jerry (Nancy) Wickson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of good, loyal friends, and his beloved dog, Tootsie. He is pre-deceased by his parents, brothers Howard and Robert Wickson, sisters Rita Stiffler, Carole Wells, and Susan Osborne. Friends and family will gather Saturday, August 19, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL, at 2:00 pm for Mass and memorial service. Cremation rights accorded by Rosman Uehling Kinzer Funeral Home, Beloit, WI. The family wishes to thank Bucky’s niece, Ann, for her loving care during these difficult months. Special thanks to the compassionate team at Beloit Regional Hospice and the Special Care nurses at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
